*NOTE * I got an arc of this book from the lovely people at NETGALLEY! This book comes out April 4, 2017
This book was 352 pages but to me felt like 100 to me. I sarted it then couldn't put it down!! I even read it twice. This book follows Sofia, a part spanish teenager, who lost her mom. Unlike most books, This book starts off sad and finishes happy! It follows the whole year when she is 14 and thru this year there is some major drama. Here is the synopsis Sofia lost her mother eight months ago, and her friends were 100% there for her. Now it's a new year and they're ready for Sofia to move on. Problem is, Sofia can't bounce back, can't recharge like a cellphone. She decides to write Dear Kate, an advice columnist for Fifteen Magazine, and is surprised to receive a fast reply. Soon the two are exchanging emails, and Sofia opens up and spills all, including a few worries that are totally embarrassing. Turns out even advice columnists don't have all the answers, and one day Sofia learns a secret that flips her world upside down. SPEED OF LIFE is the heartbreaking, heartwarming story of a girl who thinks her life is over when really it's just beginning. It's a novel about love, family, grief, and growing up. Like KOA this book will make you laugh, cry, laugh, cry, love. I am in love with this book and the characters and PLEASE buythis book when it comes out!! Parents: This book is a very amazing read for anyone, but, mostly for kids who have lost a loved one. This book is a very good diverse read because there are diffrent races thru out the book. This book would be a good converstion starter with topics about loved ones, sadness, depression, and love.
